SBC specializes in the manufacturing of eastern white cedar shingles. Founded by Mrs. Rita Rancourt, SBC is owned and operated by the third and fourth generations of a family with a great deal of experience in the cedar shingle business. Since 1996, the company has invested in several successive expansion projects in order to better respond to its clients’ needs and constantly evolve to meet new market challenges.

In the process, SBC has spared no effort to distinguish itself from the competition and quickly become a leader in its field.

Among others, production capacity was quadrupled to meet the rapidly increasing demand for its products on the market (from 16,000 to 64,000 squares annually), and new systems were implemented to maintain first-rate quality on all products (from regular shingles to R&R shingles) and new products were added to the line to offer a comprehensive range of added-value cedar shingle products (Special cuts, KD, factory-stained).

SBC and its people are single-minded when it comes to their mission. They are resolute in fully satisfying their clients with superior quality products while respecting the environment and their business partners.

Quality checks are performed throughout the whole process—from the moment cedars are harvested in the forest to the delivery of the finished product and after sales service. Various checkpoints, manned by employees working exclusively on quality control, ensure the final product is impeccable in all respects. Moreover, in order to preserve this product quality, all SBC products are stored in warehouses to shelter them from the elements. SBC makes it a point to deliver its products in a timely fashion, according to the agreed schedule, so that doing business with SBC is a seamless process for the client.

Quality Raw Material: The Cornerstone of a Superior Product

Naturally, SBC cares about forest preservation and deals exclusively with Canadian and American suppliers who share its preoccupation with the environment. SBC also has a forest supply and management contract from the Québec Government, known as a CAAF, which satisfies part of its annual cedar needs. SBC optimizes its use of resources by carefully choosing its raw material, thus maximizing its cutting yield.

SBC’s Distribution Network

SBC products are distributed in North America through specialized distributors who deal in construction materials. Some SBC products can also be found in large home improvement retail outlets. Since SBC is still in the expansion stage, it is eager to serve new markets with its products. For its upcoming development projects, it is gearing itself to export to Europe and South America.
